Sheetrock in the Kitchen
The cabinets arrive tomorrow. We don't even have the floor down yet. They will have to sit in the basement and the garage until DH is finished. I am torn between whether or not I want to see them before we are ready to install them. I don't want to get my hopes up yet.
DH let Auntie Goldens come over today. I am having issues with it. I do not really like some of the things she has said in the past and I don't like DH giving in to her so often. I do not recollect one time that I know of when she was turned down to play with the dogs. It isn't that she comes over and plays with the dogs, she mollycoddles Sam, just because he has the same father as Bogey did. She lets him jump on her, she ignores Sizzle and Harry.
Now I am having issues with Sam because she favors him. I can't stand him anymore. He disgusts me because he is the reason she is so much in our lives and he is her leverage tool to get to DH. He has never had a puppy that he sold to anyone die before. I asked him, "What if it was Campbell? Or another puppy? Would you do the same?" He said he would not. That makes me feel more ill will toward Auntie Golden. It wasn't his fault that Bogey died. It wasn't Auntie Golden's fault either. But it isn't DH's responsibility to monitor her passion for our dog. I feel like she is trying to take Sam away from us. I notice a difference in Sam's action and attitude after she leaves.
I am at wits end. I tried to explain peacefully to DH about how I feel. The way he treats this I feel as if I am being brushed aside. Hmmmm..... have to think of something to do to get my point across.

Wonderful Weekend, well sorta
Saturday we went to a little French Bistro and had a wonderful dinner. A few doors down was a pet clinic 'Paws and Claws' and beside it was 'Good Mews' a humane cat shelter. It was quite interesting - there were no cages (ok, a couple of quarantine rooms), tons of cat condos, a couple of huge litter boxes, and cats, tons of cats, fat cats, skinny cats, you name it cats. Even a manx cat! A couple had on collars, the rest were snoozing. Except the two black cats who were racing back and forth and playing with each other.
After a delicious dinner we headed to the movie theater. We saw Wild Hogs. I haven't laughed so much since I saw Little Miss Sunshine. This is a 'must see' movie!!
Sunday I met my boyfriend at his house. He was supervising a grooming session for Belle, Bogey's mom was grooming. Also his friend from work was there, we all went to Chili's for dinner. It was a lazy dinner, we talked and ate and ate and talked and gave the waiter a hard time about needing refills for our drinks. The common phrase "A good time was had by all" could be applied to this evening.
I hitched a ride with Bogey's mom, left my car at my boyfriend's house. The cold reception when I got home and the implication that I was partaking in an unapproved activity was a final straw. It is not necessary to chaperon someone over the age of 20 when they go on a date. It is not necessary to belittle them or to insult them by thinking that they would be someone who would run wild once on their own. Needless to say, today I am going apartment hunting, by the end of the month, hopefully, I will have my own place. Now if I can only get the pay raise that I need .....

Bogey's Funeral
Today was Bogey's funeral. My boyfriend picked me up at work and we headed off toward Athens. It was the first time that I had been to a pet funeral, the first in a long time I had been to a funeral. The cemetary was nice, there was an area for horses, and a K-9 memorial garden. I believe it was called the Garden of Honor. Several K-9s were buried there. It was hard to let go of Bogey, I know that his owner and my boyfriend were having a more difficult time letting him go. How could anyone not love the class clown, the life of the party, and the happy-go-lucky pup who loved to prance and show off? It was a very sad time.
After the funeral my boyfriend and I went out to Scalini's for dinner. It is wonderful to be able to go out for dinner, not worry about the time or how soon you have to leave. I do enjoy the leisurely meals we have together.
Scalini's is a great Italian restaurant with Jacobean and Victorian style furnishings. This was the 2nd time I have been there, the first was 2 years ago for my boyfriend's birthday. It is definately worth coming back to another time.

Farewell to Bogey

My boyfriend's dog drowned this past Saturday. He was a happy-go-lucky Golden Retriever puppy under 2 years old. He was born 12-12-05 and passed away 3-18-07. His owner took him out for a jaunt at the park and let him go swimming on a mild afternoon. She threw a stick into the water and he retrieved it, threw it again, when he got it and swam back he went under. She dove in after him and grabbed his collar. When she started to drown she let go and never got hold of Bogey again.
It is with deep sympathy that I am writing this, both for the owner and my boyfriend. Everyone who met this dog fell in love with him. He was a dancer, full of life, and a big goof who could charm a room full of people.
We will miss you Bogie!
