Today I had a company picnic. Since it was at a local park I thought it would be a good idea to take one of the Goldens with me. DH said I could take Belle or Sam. Belle wasn't feeling too good so I took Sam. DH loaded up a soft crate (the type we take to shows), a folding chair, water, and Sam's care bag into the car. Sam jumped in and off we went. He seemed to really enjoy the day. He didn't bark or make a nuisance of himself. He was polite and everybody LOVED him. He walked around the lake a couple of times, saw Canadian Geese for the first time, picked up a few pinecones, and made a lot of friends. The only phrase that describes how he acted during the picnic would "Perfect Angel"
He didn't play ball like he normally does, he was distracted by all the people. A couple of different children came up to say hi, he loved it, they loved it. What can I say but that he is the 'Perfect Angel' and not the typical Golden of our household.
Right after I got home Auntie was there to pick him up. I wasn't quite sure why, since I had him in the back and he hadn't been reintroduced to the others, they had to go through the dominance factor. If it was up to me, I would not have had them go through the stress and just had Auntie meet and greet the pack inside, then take Sam from the back. BUT it wasn't my choice, it was DH and Auntie's choice, I was left out of the decision process.
Auntie stayed for a short time, then left with Sam. They will have a fun week together.

Time to Turn a New Leaf
It is always sad whenever I have to say goodbye or when I have to let something go. It has been a nagging suspicion over the past 10 years that my friendship with someone I hold dear is all one-sided. Recently that has been presented to me in neon-flashing lights. I always excused her behavior as being busy or newly married. I am newly married now, but I try to make time for friends, especially if they called me.
I wanted to merge our friendship with that of our husbands, as we talked about our families being friends when we were married and had children. Right now neither of us has children. It was difficult to set up a time to meet the two of them, my calls to confirm the time were not returned until the day we chose three months prior to the actual day. That to me was a sign. She is not too keen on keeping up our friendship.
Honestly it hurts. I wish that I didn't have to put our friendship on the backburner. I really like being around her. May be I am too chubby for her. May be she just doesn't like my personality. May be she really didn't like me to begin with. All I know is that two weeks ago, I left her a voicemail that was unanswered. This week I called again. I honestly doubt she will try to keep the friendship going.
I tried. I am tired. I feel like over the past 10 or so years I have been the one setting up one-on-one meetings, shopping trips, lunches. I have a full time job, she is a stay-at-home wife. Once I stopped being able to go to club meetings (because of my job) she has not strived to keep up communication. There are always parties that we go to that are in common, but other than that we have no communication.
Turning this new leaf is very sad for me. I don't want to do it but I know that in the long run, if she truly is my friend, I will see a change. But I have my doubts too. Over the past five years communication between us has been on my shoulders, and she is status quo. *sigh* I am sad.

Car Theives
Today my car was broken into at work. Between the time I came back from lunch and the time I left for home someone tried to steal my car. The passenger side window was broken yet nothing inside the car was missing. My theory is that someone either was driving on the same parking level or was walking to their car and the thieves were spooked and left quickly.
I went to the back of my car to put an empty box (I am sorting through and storing items at my new home) and when I closed the hatch-back I heard something fall. It was one or two pieces of something very light. I looked up and it was my passenger side window. I stared in disbelief, locked the car, and went to flag down the security driver who just so happen to be passing by in his truck. I swear, I think the building management has one truck for three building parking lots. He was very kind and helpful, I now have a police case number, and called the insurance.
My original belief was that someone hit the car. My dear husband found where a screwdriver was used to pry the window. Sure enough, there are three impressions from a screwdriver on the inside portion of my car door where the window travels up and down. Ok, so I don't know what that is called, I just know where it is located. Grrrrr. I can't believe people can be so mean!
Although the car thieves didn't steal anything, the have stolen my time, my husband's time, money to repair the damaged window, and money for a car alarm.

First day at my new job
My boyfriend has to be the sweetest guy around!! Today is my first day at work, I spent the whole morning working on paperwork and he called me. He had an alarm installation within 10 miles of my new job and asked me if I wanted lunch. We met and had our first lunch together in Vinings at New York Pizza. The pizza was good, almost like Johnny's, and the company was great!
Receptionist
There is a new receptionist on the block! That would be me!! I have a new job, trying to learn the names of everyone in a 60 person office, the teams they are on (the teams are 3-person teams) and how to work the phone system. It is challenging, but I like it, there are plenty of people and everyone is very nice. Time will tell, but I think I will be there for a long time.

Last Days
Wow, it is hard to believe that tomorrow will be my last day at work with my current job. Monday morning I have to wake up earlier, drive longer, and gotta look my best all day long. It should be fun being around new people, they are all excited to get to know me. What is weird is that this week at my current job I found out about a sales meeting with our Florida rep, it will be happening in 3 weeks. Normally I know about this 2 months in advance. Well, I hope the new receptionist is ready because these guys definately don't communicate all the time! I am sad to go, it is a good company. I just don't like to be left in the dark as much as I am, both figuratively and literally.

Countdown to New Job
It is now only one week until I go to my new job. Yesterday I took a dry run of my new route. It shouldn't be too bad, until school starts again. There are quite a few cute shops in the area as well. The transition shouldn't be too hard, I just have to change my wardrobe, wake up earlier and will get home later. Not too bad. But the pay increase should be worth it. :)

Cupholder? What cupholder?

Today I went by Wendy's to get lunch on the run. I had to go by the bank and make a deposit, and it was lunchtime and I was hungry. I ordered a single hamburger, fries and drink. The hamburger and fries were packaged nicely in a paper bag and the cup, well, I am not sure if it had the lid on securely or not. But it was placed securely in my cupholder - that I know for a fact!
After getting my order, I waited for my place on the main road. Pulling out of Wendy's I could see in my periphial vision the yellow cup fell to the floor. My delima - do I reach for it and possibly have the lid pop off and Coke splatter the floor and my legs, do I let it fall and hope the lid is secure and the contents drizzle out? Well I decided to take my chances and let it fall, hoping for the best. Upon impact, I am assuming, the lid does pop off and 3/4 of my drink, along with ice, are now on the floor of my CR-V. Thankfully it is a warm day and it will dry soon. But my question is this - - - why couldn't Honda make an actual cup-holder that would work?

Dinner with the boss
May 5 - Today my boss took my boyfriend and I out to dinner. This was one of the restaurants that was high on the list of 'possible birthday restaurants' but it just didn't make it.
The atmosphere was great, company exceptional, my date was a perfect gentleman, and the evening was wonderful. Who could ask for anything more?
Dinner was delicious, I had the salmon and a blue cheese salad. I know, blue cheese again. My boss ordered a bottle of wine (don't know which one other than a red wine) and we all had a glass. I should say that everyone had 2 glasses except me, I didn't even finish my 1 glass, but still managed to get a bit tipsy. Ok, so I can't drink that much and I only drink in controlled situations.
Dessert was delicious, a pecan and apple beignet with ice cream. Yummmmm!! Almost like going to the French Quarter in New Orleans but not quite there. I still like the original 'plain' beignet.

Just Looking . . . . . . .
After a few weeks of deliberating about college, expenses, and where I stand financially I decided to go ahead and search for a new job. Christopher helped me polish my resume, I wrote a cover letter, and for one week submitted about 30 resumes. My head is reeling right now with the amount of job interviews that I have scheduled for this week.

Spring is on its way
The pear trees are about to be in full bloom. Because there are so many in the area I have become intolerant to the fragrance they produce. Well, if every subdivision, store, and office park didn't use them in landscaping it wouldn't be so bad.
I am currently working on cleaning out my closets. I have taken several bags of shoes and clothes to the local thrift store. I found a bag of McDonald type happy meal toys, I need to take those to the local hospital along with books. Hopefully they will keep someone occupied in the waiting rooms..... one of the happy meal toys has lost a nose as Carsen, my brother's cat, has chewed the dog to bits. He had it for less than one week. Carsen is Mercedes' kitten from her 1st litter.

Snow?
As I was headed into work this morning I saw snow dust falling from the sky. It certainly is cold enough to snow, but the question is will it? That would be an interesting Valentine's Day, for there to be snow. Usually it is around March when it snows in Georgia. Time will tell. I am at my desk with a hot cup of tea and my foot heater going. The sales guys have a trip out to Las Vegas, I am about to make their reservations. I will have to keep my eye on the window to see if anything bigger than snow dust starts to fall from the sky.

Who turned off the heat?
Today it is freezing cold here in Georgia, and the forecast is for it to be cold all week long. Now I am glad to be sitting at my desk, looking out to a clear blue sky, my desk foot heater keeping me warm, and watching as people briskly walk to check their mailbox then back again to their office. Some days it is good to be inside, toasty warm, with a nice cup of tea.

All Caged Up
I have a wonderful job, it is very quiet, no back-stabbing or snide remarks. No catfights or vying for position. It is quiet and in a great location. However today I feel all caged up. It is a gorgeous day, a clear sky, calm weather, slightly cool, and I am stuck at a desk looking outside. I can see traffic moving up and down the road but I am here, inside, looking out.
Any suggestions?
